If you want to share your church's event, please email the announcement directly to CindyMartin@vaumc.org or use the form HERE to submit the information.  Your event may be shared on the Valley Ridge District webpage, newsletter, and social media.  


Now through January 15:  Newport-Mt. Olivet UMC invites you to participate in Drawn to the Light, an outreach opportunity to help teen mothers in partnership with the Virginia Resource Mothers program.  The church is collecting items for teen mothers, including diapers, wipes, lotion, body wash, slipper socks, hair accessories, and more.  To learn more about local donations, contact  Penny Livesay at (540) 921-2951 or plivesay@vt.edu or CLICK HERE to learn about the statewide program.

November 29:  Staunton area Advent worship and luncheon at Augusta Street UMC, 325 N Augusta Street, Staunton at Noon.  All are welcome.  Rev. Spencer Black from Mint Spring UMC will lead worship.

December 1: You are invited to a World Aids Day Service at Greene Memorial UMC, 402 Second Street, SW, Roanoke. 

December 2 - January 1: Warm up the car, gather the family, and explore the magic of the holidays illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights at Hermitage Roanoke's fourth annual drive-thru FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS celebration!  CLICK HERE for a shareable flyer.

December 2: 10 AM - 1 PM: at Embrace, Waynesboro Brunch with Santa and Family Holiday Workshop - Share brunch with Santa, join our team of elves in making gifts and holiday decorations, and have a family portrait made.

December 2 from 9 AM - 3 PM at Cherryvale UMC, 709 Cherry Hill Drive, Staunton, Annual Christmas Shop and Craft Fair. 15+ artisan craft vendors. Breakfast and lunch are available. Lots of Christmas decor plus wood crafts, art, maple syrup, jewelry, sewn goods, quilts, bake sale, and much, much more.  Rain or shine, all vendors and food indoors.

December 2: St. Mark's UMC, 19 Cedar Ridge Drive in Daleville, invites you to their 4th Annual Drive Thru light display as they celebrate the reason for the season! It will be bigger with something different each weekend!  Fridays and Saturdays in December and Christmas Eve from 5:30 PM to 9 PM starting December 2nd!

December 2:  St. Mark's UMC, 19 Cedar Ridge Drive in Daleville-  Holiday Market and Craft Fair: Held in partnership with the Botetourt Town and Country Women’s Club from 9 am until 2 pm.  Please share this with your friends and neighbors, and most importantly, come and enjoy it. We will sell tickets for a Christmas quilt drawing. Good food, fellowship, and many vendors will all be there!

December 2:  Valley Ridge District United Women In Faith (UWF) invited you to their Advent Program beginning at 10 AM at Christ UMC, 1512 Churchville Ave, Staunton. Valley Ridge District United Women in Faith will hold an Advent Program on Saturday, December 2 at 10 AM at Christ UMC, 1512 Churchville Ave in Staunton.  The speaker will be Rev. Madison Long Ailinger. Rev. Ailinger is an alumnus of the Wesley Foundation at Virginia Tech, a graduate of Duke Divinity School, and serves as pastor of Christ UMC in Staunton. This program will be a time to reconnect and prepare ourselves for the season of Advent. Share this opportunity with your congregation. Bring a friend.

December 3:  Cave Spring UMC, 4505 Hazel Drive, Roanoke, invites you to their 49th Annual Love Feast at 7 PM.  Come enjoy a Christmas message, beautiful music, and hot chocolate.

December 4South Roanoke UMC, 2330 S. Jefferson Street, SE, Roanoke, invites you to A Messiah Sing with Opera Roanoke and Mastro Steven White at 7 PM.

December 6:  Staunton area Advent worship and luncheon at Cherryvale UMC, 709 Cherry Hill Drive, Staunton at Noon.  All are welcome.  Rev. Tizzy Walker will lead worship.

December 9 from 9 AM - 3 PM- St. John's UMC, 1416 North August Street in Staunton will host a Holiday Bazaar. Local vendors, Bake sale, Silent auction, and more. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact the church office at 540-886-1500 or stjohnsumc@verizon.net

December 9 from 10 AM - noon- you are invited for Cookies and Cocoa with Santa at the Mint Spring Ruritan Building, 1912 Lee Jackson Hwy, Staunton.  Drop by to play games, make a craft, hear a story, have hot cocoa and cookies, AND visit with Santa.  Sponsored by Mint Spring UMC and the Mint Spring Ruritan Club.

December 9 from 8 AM - 10:30 AM you are invited to Santa Breakfast at Christ UMC, 1512 Churchville Ave, Staunton.  Enjoy breakfast, a photo opportunity, and children's crafts.

December 9 from 10 AM - noon, you are invited to Brunch with Santa at Fincastle UMC in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church St. Fincastle.  Free admission for brunch.  Bring your camera for pictures with Santa and, if possible, a new unwrapped toy donation for Toys for Tots.

December 13:  Staunton area Advent worship and luncheon at Central UMC, 14 North Lewis Street, Staunton at Noon.  All are welcome.  Rev. Madison Ailinger will lead worship.

December 15-17 Alta Mons Winter Camp.  Alta Mons is our church camp located in Shawsville, VA.  Winter Camp is a 3 day / 2 night camp that happens right before Christmas each year. It's open to campers in grades 1 to 12. It is basically like a shorter version of summer camp with several special activities like cookie decorating, Christmas Tree decorating, potentially seeing frozen Stiles Falls, etc. Campers and staff members sleep in the Burrows Retreat Center, the Pearman House, Carter Cottage, Cedar View, and Mountain View.

December 16South Roanoke UMC, 2330 S. Jefferson Street, SE, Roanoke, invites you to Home for the Holidays, a music program with Maestro David Wiley.  No tickets are required.

December 20:  Staunton area Advent worship and luncheon at Christ UMC, 1512 Churchville Ave at Noon.  All are welcome.  Rev. Won Un will lead worship.
