Grant Opportunities

District Board of Church Location and Building Grants

The District Board of Church Location and Building (DBCLB) has undertaken responsibilities of what was formerly the Staunton District Mission Managers and the Roanoke Board of Missions and Church Extension, including strategically examining the missional needs of our local churches, ministries, and communities and extending opportunities for churches and ministries to request grants. Grant applications will be reviewed by the Valley Ridge DBCLB twice in 2024. Application deadlines are April 30, 2024 and October 31, 2024

The DBCLB will review financial assistance requests from Valley Ridge District churches and ministry partners. While many worthy requests for funding will be received, the DBCLB will strive to keep the focus on the mission of the United Methodist Church in accordance with the 2016 Book of Discipline Paragraph 120: The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs.

Communication/Marketing Grants

The Valley Ridge District will offer our local churches micro-grants to be used in communications and marketing efforts during the 2024 Fall Ministries season. These grants can be used to promote your church's upcoming events this season through social media ads, banners, yard signs, mailings, or other ways your church communicates with its congregation and community.  Grants will be distributed in the order applications are received, with a maximum award of $400 per applicant. If your church receives a grant you will be asked to provide feedback on the use of the grant and any measurable outcomes.   The deadline to complete this application is August 31, 2024.  Contact Robin Barge, Valley Ridge District of Communications and Programming at RobinBarge@vaumc.org with any questions.
